We decided that having solar fuels in Medicine Hat, Alberta would be the most ideal location based on three factors.
First of all, Medicine Hat is ranked as the 2nd sunniest place in Canada year round.
1st sunniest fall
2nd sunniest summer
3rd sunniest spring
14th sunniest winter
5th fewest foggy/cloudy days
The reason why we didn’t choose to use Calgary (ranked 1st for sunniest place year-round) is because of the landscape. Medicine Hat does not have very many tall buildings. It's more or less flat all around the city. This is important so that there is nothing that is going to block sunlight from reaching solar panels, such as tall buildings.
Lastly, it's important that the government is in a good situation economically, because of the solar taxes that they must pay to solar users.
